  • Software Development to Leadership

How to make the transition, what pitfalls to avoid and how to achieve resolute effectiveness.

Making the decision to go from being a developer and hands on technologist to a people leader is sometimes an easy transition for individuals. Other times is a greatly feared decision. We will dive into both and the discovery phase to determine if this is really the transition that you want to make and if you’re prepared. Are you the kind of person that likes bringing talent together to achieve as a team? Do you like building out a vision and getting everyone behind it? Management is for you and guess what your hands-on development skills make you that much more equipped for the role.

We will discuss common pitfalls of the technologist gone management. If you are opposed to visibility and criticism beware of people leadership. Do you feel that a decision that is made, good or bad, is better than no decision at all? We will complete an exercise to see how much risk you are willing to take to move to management.

Lastly, we will talk about the most effective practices and how to make a smooth transition with the most effectiveness into people leadership.
